Clear, supportive GCSE maths teaching from a qualified teacher
Pocket Maths Tutor was created to give students structured teaching, calm support and a clearer route through GCSE maths.
A £20 reservation payment secures a September Membership space. It is fully refundable if you cancel before 1 September 2026. If you continue, it is credited against the first month’s £50 fee, leaving £30 to pay.
Students often need clearer support, not simply more work
I have spent more than ten years working in education, including teaching mathematics, leading maths departments and supporting students through important choices and transitions.
During that time, I have seen many capable students lose confidence because they missed one method, struggled with the pace of a lesson or did not know how to organise their revision.
Pocket Maths Tutor was created to give families a more structured alternative. The aim is to combine clear teaching, regular support and useful resources in a way that feels manageable for students and reassuring for parents.

PMT is led and taught by an experienced, fully qualified maths teacher with extensive experience across secondary education.
Qualified teacher
BSc Mathematics with a 2:1, Postgraduate Certificate in Education and Qualified Teacher Status.
Leadership experience
Previous roles include Head of Mathematics and Deputy Head of Mathematics.
More than ten years
Over a decade of experience teaching, supporting and working with secondary-school students.
GCSE understanding
Strong knowledge of Foundation and Higher GCSE maths, common gaps and the demands students face in examinations.
Enhanced DBS
Pocket Maths Tutor operates with safeguarding, professional boundaries and student welfare at the centre of its work.
Parent communication
Families receive clear and honest information without unrealistic promises or unnecessary pressure.
Build understanding first, then build confidence
Effective maths support should help students understand what they are doing, recognise progress and feel able to try.
Explain clearly
Methods are broken down carefully before students are expected to apply them independently.
Build in steps
Students strengthen the foundations before moving towards more demanding GCSE questions.
Practise purposefully
Questions are chosen to develop understanding, accuracy and effective examination habits.
Support calmly
Students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes and keep moving without feeling judged.
Support that continues beyond one weekly lesson
PMT Membership combines live teaching with recordings, video lessons and support between sessions.
For students
Students have a clear weekly structure, different support pathways and somewhere to turn when they become stuck.
- three weekly live pathways
- Foundation and Higher support
- lesson recordings
- Pocket Lessons video library
- Pocket Support during term time
For parents
Parents know that their child has structured GCSE maths support from a qualified teacher without needing to organise everything themselves.
- clear Membership structure
- straightforward pricing
- professional communication
- policies and safeguarding
- an alternative to weekly private tuition
You have empowered them and made maths fun and enjoyable. My daughter has gone from not enjoying maths to now enjoying it and wanting to study A level, which I honestly wasn’t sure we would see.
