Individual tuition when a specific priority needs more time
One-to-One Support is an optional paid extra for PMT members. It is designed for a clearly identified topic, assessment or confidence issue that would benefit from dedicated individual teaching.
Membership remains the foundation. One-to-one sessions are recommended only when they are likely to add clear value.
Use one-to-one time for a clear reason
A one-to-one session can be useful when a student has a defined gap, an upcoming assessment or several connected questions that need more time than Pocket Support can reasonably provide.
It is not intended to create unnecessary extra tuition. The live lessons, Pocket Lessons and Pocket Support should remain the normal weekly system.
Choose the amount of time the priority needs
A shorter session suits one focused issue. A full hour gives more time for teaching, practice and feedback across a wider area.
30 minutes — £20
Best for one clearly defined question, method or small topic that can be addressed without a full lesson.
- one focused priority
- clear explanation and guided practice
- useful for a quick confidence reset
- online session
60 minutes — £40
Best when a topic needs fuller teaching, several connected questions or more time for exam-style practice.
- deeper topic support
- time for teaching and independent practice
- individual feedback throughout
- online session

Check availability
Michael confirms whether a suitable session time is available.
Agree the focus
The session length and main priority are confirmed before payment and booking.
Attend online
The student joins with the questions, resources or paper they want to address.
Make the individual time count
Students should bring the exact questions, topic list, assessment feedback or exam paper they want to address.
Where possible, send the relevant information before the session. This allows the teaching to begin quickly and keeps the time focused on learning.
Clear arrangements protect preparation time
Payment confirms booking
A session is confirmed once the agreed booking and payment process has been completed.
Give notice of changes
Please provide as much notice as possible if the student cannot attend the agreed session.
Less than 24 hours
Sessions cancelled or moved with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot normally be rescheduled or credited.
Before booking
Any final payment, cancellation and rescheduling arrangements supplied at the point of booking will apply to that session.
Start with the main PMT support system
For most families, Full PMT Membership should remain the starting point because it provides regular teaching, a weekly routine and support between sessions.
A one-to-one session can then be added when there is a clear reason for individual support.
One-to-One Support FAQs
Is one-to-one tuition included in Membership?
No. One-to-one sessions are an optional paid extra and are booked separately, subject to availability.
Who can book a session?
The service is designed as optional additional support for PMT members. Contact Pocket Maths Tutor first so the need, suitability and availability can be checked.
Should I book 30 or 60 minutes?
Thirty minutes is suitable for one clearly defined issue. Sixty minutes is better for a wider topic, several connected questions or a fuller individual lesson.
Can the session focus on an upcoming test?
Yes. Share the date, topic list and any relevant school feedback in advance so the session can focus on the most useful priorities.
What happens if my child cannot attend?
Please give as much notice as possible. Sessions cancelled or moved with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot normally be rescheduled or credited.
Does one-to-one tuition guarantee a grade?
No. The session provides teaching, practice and guidance, but no specific grade or examination result can be guaranteed.
