Help your child prepare for GCSE Maths Papers 2 and 3
Live 2-hour online sessions focused on exam technique, high-value topics and confidence before the final two GCSE maths papers. Separate Foundation and Higher sessions are available.
The final two GCSE maths papers can feel like a lot to manage
Once Paper 1 is over, many students are left wondering what to focus on next. Some feel more confident, some feel unsettled, and many are not sure how to use the remaining time effectively.
Revision can feel rushed
Students may know they need to revise, but struggle to decide which topics, skills or question types are worth prioritising.
Calculator papers need strategy
Papers 2 and 3 often require students to combine skills, show clear working and use their calculator efficiently.
Confidence matters
A calm, focused session can help students feel more organised before they sit their next paper.
From last-minute panic to focused exam preparation
These sessions do not try to predict the paper. Instead, they help students use the remaining time sensibly by focusing on important skills, common question styles, method marks and avoidable mistakes.
Paper 1 preparation has now closed. Paper 2 and Paper 3 sessions remain available for both Foundation and Higher students.
What each session helps students do
- revisit high-value calculator-paper skills
- practise common GCSE maths question styles
- understand where method marks are gained
- avoid common mistakes under exam pressure
- approach the next paper with more confidence
Focused exam preparation for the remaining GCSE maths papers
Each session is led by Michael Thompson, an experienced and fully qualified maths teacher, and is built around clear teaching, progressive exam practice and practical paper strategy.
The aim is to help students feel prepared without adding unnecessary pressure. Sessions focus on key skills, clear working and the small exam habits that can make a real difference.
Students can book a single session or book both remaining papers as a bundle.
Each session includes
- 2 hours of live online GCSE maths support
- separate Foundation and Higher sessions
- paper-specific exam technique
- high-value topic practice
- worked examples and guided student practice
- common mistakes and mark-winning habits
- access to session resources
Who are these sessions for?
Students who need focus
For students who know they need to revise, but are not sure what to prioritise before the next maths paper.
Students who need confidence
For students who can do some of the maths, but often lose marks through uncertainty, missed working or exam pressure.
Students who need structure
For students who would benefit from a teacher-led session that breaks down key question types clearly and calmly.
How each 2-hour session works
Every session follows the same clear structure, so students know what to expect and can make the most of the time.
| Time | Section | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 0–5 mins | Welcome and session focus | Settle students and make the aim of the session clear. |
| 5–15 mins | Quick win starter | Build early confidence and revisit key skills linked to the session. |
| 15–25 mins | Paper strategy | Look at how to approach the next paper and pick up marks effectively. |
| 25–45 mins | Number exam practice | Worked examples, student practice and review of key method marks. |
| 45–65 mins | Algebra exam practice | Worked examples, student practice and review of key method marks. |
| 65–70 mins | Short reset break | A quick pause before the second half of the session. |
| 70–90 mins | Ratio and proportion exam practice | Worked examples, student practice and review of key method marks. |
| 90–110 mins | Geometry exam practice | Worked examples, student practice and review of key method marks. |
| 110–117 mins | Common mistakes | Highlight the errors that often cost students marks. |
| 117–120 mins | Final checklist | End with clear, calm priorities before the exam. |
Each topic block uses an “I do, you do” structure, with worked examples followed by guided student practice. The aim is to help students secure the method, show clear working and avoid common exam mistakes.

Before you book
Are these sessions suitable for all GCSE maths students?
The sessions are designed for GCSE maths students sitting Foundation or Higher papers. Please choose the correct tier when booking.
Are Foundation and Higher taught separately?
Yes. Foundation and Higher students have separate sessions so that the content, pace and question styles are appropriate.
Will the sessions predict what is coming up?
No. The sessions do not claim to predict the paper. They are built around sensible exam preparation, focusing on high-value skills, common question styles and topics that have appeared frequently in previous GCSE maths papers.
What happens if my child cannot attend live?
Where possible, a recording and session resources will be made available after the session. Live attendance is recommended because students benefit from the structure and guided practice.
What does my child need for the session?
They will need paper, a pen, a calculator for Paper 2 and Paper 3 sessions, and a quiet place to work. Joining details will be sent before the session.
Can my child book just one session?
Yes. Single sessions are £35. Paper 2 and Paper 3 bundle options are also available for students who would benefit from focused preparation before the final two calculator papers.
How are the sessions delivered?
Sessions are delivered live online. Joining instructions will be sent after booking and before the session.
